January 2020 is about to finish and we have come across a number of electric scooter launches but Ather Energy, an Indian electric vehicle company claims to have taken the crown by launching its new electric scooter 450X in the electric segment vehicle race.
Ather 450X is the upgraded version of Ather 450 with improved performance and features. The starting price is ₹99000 (ex-showroom) in India, meanwhile in Delhi the price is ₹85000 (ex-showroom). It is available in two colours options – matte grey and mint green and has two versions – Plus and Pro. Bookings for Ather 450X begins in multiple cities and deliveries will start in July.
Coming to the specification, Ather 450X offers larger battery cells that produces 6kW power that gives 8 bhp that is 0.8 bhp more than the previous version. It produces 26 N-m torque that is also 6 N-m more than the previous model. Moreover the scooter has become lighter by 11kgs, gone up to a speed of 85 kmph, can dash from 0 to 40 kmph in 3.3 seconds promises a range of 85 km in eco mode and 75 km in ride mode in a single charge and can expect charge from flat 0% to full 100% at home in 5 hours 45 minutes.
Ather 450X comes with Android based user interface, equipped with e-sim card, supports wifi and bluetooth connectivity. It has tyre pressure sensor that alerts the rider on the dash panel in case of low pressure. Rider can also view theft detection, real-time locations and many more than the previous Ather 450 app. Ather Energy also offers unlimited warranty in the life of the battery of the vehicle.
The Ather 450X will compete with Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and Okinawa iPraise in the electric scooter segment. The company is aiming to sell 30000 units in a year and planning for new plant for Ather 450X.
