The wait is over at last and BMW iX3 has finally made a debut to the world, the much awaited all-electric SUV. The electric vehicle was introduced globally on 14th July 2020 and as it is the first electric vehicle by the German carmaker, no doubt they have given their best shot.

The electric SUV was unveiled in BMW’s headquarters in Munich, Germany. With a calling name of SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) given by the company, it is built at the BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) joint venture in China.

As the name goes BMW iX3, it is a clear indication that the electric SUV is made with a visual base idea of BMW X3. This all-electric SUV is mated with a power plant of 74kWh battery that delivers power to electric motor give out a figure of 282 bhp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The car can take a marathon 460 km in a single charge, as claimed by the company and can dash from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.8 seconds and can attain a top speed of 180 kmph.

It is the first car from BMW to be integrated with the fifth generation eDrive technology which comprises an electronic management and transmission unit, all this whole set requires less installing space. BMW claims that this tech will be mated in the upcoming BMW cars as BMW i4 and iNext releasing in 2021.

BMW iX3 gives the definition of sharp edge style, the blueish chrome borders to its dual grille adds compliments to its appraisable list. The car features digital instrument panel of 12.5 inch and central touchscreen infotainment system of 10.25 inch.

The boot space can be expanded from 510 litres to 1560 litres while the aerodynamically designed 19-inch wheels delivers some contribution to the drag coefficient of 0.29. The 150kW DC fast charger charges upto 80% in 34 minutes.

The production of this car is carried out in China and soon will be out for international markets by the end of 2020. No news is received about the car hitting the Indian automotive market.
