Ford GT, a car which we are commonly very familiar of, though the history it holds is not so common. Ford GT was the car which break the continuous chain of Ferrari winning and that too with four consecutive wins, just to clear that the first winning was not merely a luck. The car has its unique history and came a long way from being a champion in 1960s to making a comeback in 21st century.

·      The Ford GT is a high performance car, initially the Ford engine known as Ford V8 was integrated in a British sports car named as Lola MK6 GT from British car manufacturer Lola Cars. From 1962 to 1963, only three units of Lola MK6 GT were made in production.

·      In 1964, Ford designed Ford GT40 with Ford V8 engine integrated in it. The Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3 variants of GT40 were inspired from the MK6 GT and were built in England. The Mk4 variant was designed and built in US and thus we come to know the Ford GT40.

·      The car was in production from 1964 to 1969 and during this long period of time only 105 units of Ford GT40 were made. In 1966, the sports car entered the racing tracks, it turned the winning tables and gave everyone a wide open eye of surprise.

·      In 1966, at 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford GT40 took all the three positions in the race, from first to third and went on to win next three annual races. It broke Ferrari’s winning chain which it was continuously taking over from 1960 to 1965.

·      In 1969, the production of the car for races discontinued, in the 21st century 2004, the Ford company hit a century since it was established in 1903. At this moment of joy, Ford released its old champ with new looks and new features by the name Ford GT.

·      The Ford GT production continued from 2004 to 2006 and during this period it produced 4038 units of car. The car shows a significant resemblance of Ford GT40 just to recall its historical memories. The car was also denoted by “First Generation” by the company.

·      In the year 2016, the Ford GT40 marked the golden jubilee since its first historical win in 1966 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ford relaunched the champ and this time denoted by “Second Generation”. Around 250 units are being produced annually.
