Though the hubless motorcycles were already known by audience, it became a hot topic of style when shown in the movie Tron Legacy. A Finland based automotive company, Verge has come up with a motorcycle which offers a centerless rear wheel giving you a Tron like feeling known as Verge TS.
Verge, which was also known as RMK Vehicles till the late 2019 unveiled the e-roadster in the 2019 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Italy. The hubless feature not only fills the glass of unique design but also eliminates the necessity of chain or belt drive in the motorcycle as its rim is equipped with a round electric motor.
The electric motorcycle has a power source of 80 Kw that produces a maximum power of 107 horsepower and peak torque of 1000 Nm or 740 lb-ft. It smoothly flashes from 0 to 100 kmph in 4 seconds, and if we keep up the throttle, the acceleration will continue up to a top speed of 180 kmph.
The TS offers a relaxed ride upto 200 km on highways and 300 km in cities on a single charge, charging the motorcycle takes four hours while using the on-board charger and if charging with DC fast charger takes 45 to 50 minutes.
For a safe and happy-go journey, the roaster is mounted with Brembo dual front disc brakes, Pirelli’s Rosso Corsa II tyres and face potholes with the help of suspension designed by Ohlins. An aluminum frame work accommodates the large battery’s mass while balancing the overall weight of the motorcycle.
Despite of all the amazing integrations, the motorcycle will need quite a good amount of care and maintenance, generally a hubless motorcycle requires a precise design and complex machining which leaves the bearings and other parts exposed. The price of the motorcycle is €24990 which in India will cost around 21 lakhs. The world automotive industry is at the entrance of electrification and this roadster pushes the combined boundaries of design and technology.
