We may have forgotten the sidecars which were once used to be at the side of motorcycles but Ural Motorcycles has kept the classic tradition to go on, they had made the return of sidecars. IMZ-Ural is a Russian automobile maker and manufacturer popularly known for its motorcycles as well as heavy sidecar motorcycles. Ural design motorcycles which were generally based on the design of BMW motorcycles of 1930s, recently Ural has added a new motorcycle to its list having a unique feature option of adding a sidecar like the Royal Enfield or the Bajaj used to have.
The motorcycle has a power source of 749cc OHV air-cooled 2-cylinder 4-stroke boxer engine that enables us a maximum power of 41hp @ 5500 rpm and a peak torque of 42ft-lbs @ 4300 rpm with a compression ratio of 8.6:1. The motorcycle has a fuel capacity of 19 litres, gives fuel economy of 13 kmpl to 16 kmpl and can accelerate at the top speed of 113 kmph. It has a 4-speed manual transmission gearbox and a reverse gear with 2-wheeldrive as the power is transferred at the rear wheel and at the wheel of the sidecar of the motorcycle through drive shafts giving a better traction control which helps in grabbing a full control over the motorcycle.
The motorcycle is equipped with double-disc dry clutch, 4-piston fixed Brembo caliper with 295mm floating NG rotor at the front brake and 2-piston fixed Brembo caliper with 245mm floating NG rotor at the sidecar brakes, the rear brake has HB big bore single piston integrated floating caliper with 256mm fixed NG rotor.
The motorcycle has steel spokes aluminum wheels, front suspension of IMZ leading link fork and the rear and sidecar suspension has Sachs (rear suspension has two Sachs) hydraulic spring 7x adjustable shock absorbers. It has a ground clearance of 6.8 inches and a dry weight of 331 kg.
The motorcycle comes with standard accessories as sidecar power outlet, sidecar tonneau cover, jerry can, folding utility shovel, luggage rack, universal spare wheel that fits in all three positions offered by the company. The motorcycle is priced at $17,549 (₹13.24 lakhs approx), one can say that it is the most perfect mix of modern and retro which gives you the feeling of a traditional class.
